An Affidavit of Probable Cause filed by Trooper Rupp states that on June 1, 2018, Troopers were dispatched to the Grad residence in Mahaffey Borough for the report of a domestic assault. Once on scene, the victim related that he and Grad had been arguing the previous evening, which continued into the morning of June 1st. He related that Grad entered their bedroom on that date and when he attempted to leave, she grabbed a sharp kitchen knife. After a struggle over the knife, Grad unsuccessfully attempted to stab him in the abdomen region. The victim related that he then tried to restrain Grad; however, Grad bit him in the chest. Eventually, the victim was able to leave the residence and wait for the arrival of the Pennsylvania State Police.

Once on scene, Troopers attempted to take Grad into custody. At that time, Grad resisted arrest and continued to display violent and tumultuous behavior.
