DA SHAW REPORTS CAC RECEIVES DONATION FROM SCI HOUTZDALE

SCI Houtzdale Superintendent Barry Smith & CAC Director Mary Tatum

HOUTZDALE – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., reported today that the Clearfield County Child Advocacy Center has received a monetary donation.

Shaw explained that inmates, housed at the State Correctional Institute at Houtzdale, who participate in the Journey for Change (JFC), made a donation of child-friendly artwork and fifteen hundred dollars to the Clearfield County Child Advocacy Center (CAC-CC).

Shaw explained that the JFC is the inmate organization at SCI Houtzdale that was implemented to address the needs of the inmate population by creating alternative structural avenues and positive outlets. A significant component of the JFC organization is also to assist charitable, non-profit organizations throughout the local community and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. These donations are approved through the facility’s administrative team. To raise funds to be donated, JFC hosts authorized fundraising events throughout the institution.

Shaw thanked the JFC of SCI Houtzdale for selecting the Clearfield County Child Advocacy Center to receive their generous donation.
