DA SHAW: ELECTRONIC EVIDENCE GATHER WORKSHOP COMPLETED

DUBOIS – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced today that the Clearfield County District Attorney’s Office in collaboration with the Child Advocacy Center of Clearfield County (CAC-CC), provided a cell phone forensics workshop to investigators in Clearfield County.  The training was provided through a grant from the Pennsylvania District Attorneys Institute (PDAI).

Shaw reported that the workshop was designed to assist investigators with understanding best practices and techniques used to examine popular smartphones.  Shaw reported that investigators learned how to recover cloud data, messaging app data, and resources available to investigators regarding electronic forensics.

Shaw reported that there was representation from DuBois City Police Department, Sandy Township Police Department, Curwensville Police Department, State Police- Troop C, Clearfield Borough Police Department, Lawrence Township Police Department, the Clearfield County Sheriff Office, Clearfield County Probation, Clearfield County Children, Youth, and Family Services, Clearfield County District Attorney’s Office, and the CAC-CC.  In total 25 investigators throughout the Clearfield County attended the workshop.

Shaw stated that Clearfield County also has obtained electronic forensic equipment to be housed at the DuBois City Police Department, to create additional access for local investigators.

Shaw thanked everyone that took time from their work schedules to attend the vital workshop.  Shaw said, “this training provided valuable information to our local law enforcement to assist them when investigating crimes involving electronic evidence.”
