CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.

Shaw identified the Fugitive as Matthew Clyde, age 28, of Curry Run Road, Mahaffey, Pennsylvania.

Clyde was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on September 12, 2011.

On July 1, 2011, Trooper Kimberly Ronan of the Pennsylvania State Police, Clearfield Barracks, filed a Criminal Complaint charging Clyde with: 1) Theft By Unlawful Taking, M1; 2) Theft By Deception, M1; and 3) Receiving Stolen Property, M1.

An Affidavit of Probable Cause filed by Trooper Ronan states that in May 2011 the Pennsylvania State Police began an investigation into the theft of scrap metal from a property in Greenwood Township. Upon investigation it was found that Clyde had removed approximately 3,080 pounds of steel from the location. It was also found that Clyde turned in the scrap metal at a local salvage yard and received approximately $385.00.

A Preliminary Hearing was scheduled for September 7, 2011, at which time Clyde failed to appear and a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.

Shaw stated that on September 12, 2011, Clyde voluntarily surrendered himself to Deputies from the Clearfield County Sheriff's Office, and he was taken into custody.

Shaw thanked the Clearfield County Sheriff's Office for their assistance with this case.
