 Richard Gump CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.
Shaw identified the Fugitive as Richard Gump, age 45, of Waynesburg, Pennsylvania.
Gump was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on July 11, 2011.
On May 3, 2011, Sergeant Gregory Neeper of the Clearfield Borough Police Department, filed a Criminal Complaint charging Gump with: 1) Theft By Deception, M; and 2) Receiving Stolen Property, M.
An Affidavit of Probable Cause filed by Sgt. Neeper states that in April 2011, the Clearfield Borough Police began an investigation into a theft that occurred at local bank. Upon investigation, it was found that Gump had unlawfully obtained money while at the bank on April 6, 2011.
A Preliminary Hearing was scheduled for June 8, 2011, at which time Gump failed to appear and a warrant was issued for his arrest. A hearing was held in Gump's absence and all charges were held for Court.
Shaw stated that on July 28, 2011, Troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police, Waynesburg Barracks, apprehended Gump in Green County, and he was taken into custody without incident. Gump is currently lodged in the Clearfield County jail.
Shaw thanked the Pennsylvania State Police for their hard work and assistance with this case.
