DUBOIS- On Friday, June 10 and Saturday June 11, 2011, Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., and McGruff the Crime Dog participated in DuBois City's annual Community Days Celebration. The event was held at Memorial Park in DuBois.

The District Attorney's  booth at the annual event focused on instructing area children about Safety and Crime Prevention. Shaw utilized McGruff the Crime Dog to promote the topic, and provided various puzzles and games to children to teach them about preventing crime and to be more aware of safety issues.  Shaw and McGruff also taught area youth the dangers of drug usage and encouraged all children to "Say No To Drugs".

Shaw stated that the District Attorney's booth also provided literature and advice for internet safety, as well as information for parents and children to learn how to deal with bullying.  Shaw reported that we also provide information on identity theft and advice for protecting against having your identity stolen.

Shaw and McGruff also had a float in the Community Days Parade on Saturday, which also focused on safety and crime prevention.  Both Shaw and McGruff traveled the parade route encouraging children to "Say No To Drugs" and asking all citizens to help "Take a Bite Out of Crime".

Shaw stated that this year's Community Days was a great success.  Shaw reported that "kids love visiting with McGruff and having their picture taken with the nation's most famous Crime Dog".  Shaw reported that "this year we really got to speak with hundreds of area children and I am hopeful that our message will have a positive impact".

Shaw congratulated the DuBois Volunteer Fire Department for their hard work in making Community Days such a great success.  Shaw also thanked Ron Torrell and his staff for volunteering their time and effort to assist with the District Attorney's parade float.
