CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.

Shaw identified the Fugitive as Peter Rossi, age 31, of Bell Lane, Woodland, Pennsylvania.

Rossi was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on April 18, 2011.

On August 31, 2010, Trooper Brian Elensky of the Pennsylvania State Police, Clearfield Barracks, filed a Criminal Complaint charging Rossi with: 1) Theft By Unlawful Taking, M1; and 2) Receiving Stolen Property, M1.

An Affidavit of Probable Cause filed by Trooper Elensky states that in August 2010, the victim reported that he and his wife had observed a vehicle parked near his scrap metal pile on his property in Bradford Township. The victim approached the vehicle and came in contact with Rossi who was loading the vehicle with the scrap metal. Rossi then fled the scene. The victim reported that Rossi had improperly removed approximately three tons of scrap metal from his property. A Preliminary Hearing was scheduled for October 13, 2010, at which time all charges were held for Court.  On April 14, 2011, Rossi failed to appear for Pretrial Conferences and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Shaw stated that an anonymous tip to the Clearfield County Crimestoppers provided the location of Rossi. On May 6, 2011, Deputies from the Clearfield County Sheriff's Office apprehended Rossi, and he was taken into custody without incident. Shaw acknowledged that Rossi was located as the direct result of citizens willing to provide information to law enforcement.

Shaw thanked the Clearfield County Sheriff's Office for their hard work and assistance with this case.
