CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.

Shaw identified the Fugitive as Michael Zukauskas, age 33, of Gainesville, Virginia.

Zukauskas was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on April 25, 2011.

On April 4, 2009, Officer Randall Young of the DuBois City Police Department, filed a Criminal Complaint charging Zukauskas with: 1) Driving Under the Influence, M; 2) Careless Driving, S; and 3) Operation of Vehicle Without Official Certificate of Inspection, S.

An Affidavit of Probable Cause filed by Officer Young states that on February 7, 2009, while on routine patrol, officers observed a vehicle driving erratically. The vehicle was also observed to have an expired Certificate of Inspection. Upon making contact with the driver of the vehicle, Young detected signs of  impairment and requested that Zukauskas perform field sobriety tests.  After administering the field sobriety tests, Zukauskas was transported to the DuBois Regional Medical Center for blood testing.

A Preliminary Hearing was scheduled for May 22, 2009, at which time all charges were held for Court. On September 17, 2009, Zukauskas failed to appear for Criminal Call and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Shaw stated that an anonymous e-mail tip to the Clearfield County Crimestoppers provided the location of Zukauskas.  On April 27, 2011, Officers from the DuBois City Police Department apprehended Zukauskas at a residence on Garfield Avenue in DuBois City.  Zukauskas was taken into custody without incident, and is lodged in the Clearfield County jail.

Shaw thanked the DuBois City Police Department  for their hard work and assistance with this case.
