CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.

Shaw identified the Fugitive as Russell Walter, II, age 25, of 18th Avenue, Altoona, Pennsylvania.

Walter was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on September 27, 2010.

On February 24, 2010, Trooper Terry Jordan of the Pennsylvania State Police, Clearfield Barracks, filed a Criminal Complaint charging Walter with: 1)  Burglary, F2, 5 counts; 2) Criminal Trespass, F2, 5 counts; 3) Theft by Unlawful Taking, M2, 5 counts; and 4) Receiving Stolen Property, M2, 5 counts.

An Affidavit of Probable Cause filed by Jordan states that between December 1, 2008, and February 1, 2009, the Pennsylvania State Police were investigating a series of burglaries that occurred at the Kwik Check Market in Bigler Township, the Royal Oak in Gulich Township, and the Rainbow Inn in Beccaria Township.  During the course of the investigation, Jordan interviewed several suspects.  On June 19, 2009, Jordan interviewed a suspect who provided information supporting the arrest of Walter.  The suspect interviewed was also arrested and charged with conspiracy for participating in the burglaries.

A Preliminary Hearing was held on March 10, 2010, at which time Walter waived the charges to Court.  On September 16, 2010, Walter failed to appear for Criminal Call and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Shaw stated that on the night of April 16, 2011, Officers from the Altoona City Police Department were called to an Altoona residence for the report of a domestic incident. At the residence Officers came into contact with Walter and he was taken into custody. Walter is currently lodged in the Blair County jail.
