Trooper Jordan interviewed the victim and found that Clifton had obtained a Power of Attorney for the victim, and that Clifton was to be responsible for paying all of the victim's bills. Upon investigation, it was found that for over a two year period of time Clifton had improperly taken over $50,000.00 from the victim.

Shaw stated that on March 21, 2011, Clifton voluntarily surrendered himself to Deputies from the Clearfield County Sheriff's Office, and he was taken into custody.
