CLEARFIELD - Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.

Shaw identified the Fugitive as Melissa M. Palmer, age 30, of Chapman Trailer Court, Dubois, Pennsylvania.

Palmer was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on November 15, 2010.

On March 16, 2010, Officer Brian Lockwood of the Dubois City Police Department, filed a Criminal Complaint charging Palmer with: 1) Access Device Fraud, M1; and 2) Receiving Stolen Property, M2.

An Affidavit of Probable Cause filed by Lockwood states that on September 28, 2009, the Dubois City Police received a report that Palmer had left a DuBois City business without paying for services. An employee of the business reported that Palmer and a known male presented a debit card in order to secure services.  The employee later discovered the debit card had been cancelled. Palmer and the male individual left the business without paying for the services received.

A Preliminary Hearing was scheduled for April 23, 2010, at which time all charges were held for Court. On November 9, 2010, Palmer failed to appear for Sentencing Court and Motions Court and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Shaw stated that on March 3, 2011, Palmer voluntarily surrendered herself to Deputies from the Clearfield County Sheriff's Office, and she was taken into custody.

Shaw thanked the Clearfield County Sheriff's Office for their assistance with this case.
