CLEARFIELD - Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.

Shaw identified the Fugitive as Charles L. Day, age 48, of DuBois, Pennsylvania.

Day was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on February 28, 2011.

On January 20, 2009, Officer Randall Young of the DuBois City Police Department, filed a Criminal Complaint charging Day with: 1) Driving Under the Influence, M; 2) Careless Driving, S; 3) Registration and Certificate of Title Required, S; 4) Operation of Vehicle Without an Official Certificate of Inspection, S; 5) Required Financial Responsibility, S; and 6) Operation Following Suspension of Registration, S.

An Affidavit of Probable Cause filed by Officer Young states that on December 23, 2008, while on routine patrol, officers observed a vehicle traveling with an expired registration and without operating taillights. The vehicle was further observed crossing the center double yellow line several times while traveling east on East DuBois Avenue. Upon stopping the vehicle, Young detected signs of  impairment and requested that Day perform field sobriety tests.  Day was then transported to DRMC for blood testing.

A Preliminary Hearing was scheduled for February 20, 2009, at which time all charges were held for Court. On May 11, 2010, Day failed to appear for Sentencing Court and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Shaw stated that an anonymous tip provided the location of Day in Brockport, Jefferson County. On March 1, 2011, Troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police in Ridgway apprehended Day, and he was taken into custody without incident. Day is currently lodged in the Clearfield County jail.

Shaw acknowledged that Day was located as the direct result of citizens willing to provide information to law enforcement. Shaw thanked the Pennsylvania State Police and the Clearfield County Sheriff's Office for their hard work and assistance with this case.
