CLEARFIELD - Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.


Shaw identified the Fugitive as Jarred Peters, age 19, of Dorey Street, Clearfield, Pennsylvania. 

Peters was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on February 7, 2011. 

On June 16, 2010,  Sergeant Mark Brooks of the Lawrence Township Police Department, filed a Criminal Complaint charging Peters with: 1) Criminal Conspiracy to Commit Theft By Deception, F3, 3 Counts; 2) Theft By Deception, F3, 3 Counts; 3) Receiving Stolen Property, F3, 3 Counts; 4) Theft By Deception, M1, 6 Counts; 5) Receiving Stolen Property, M1, 2 Counts; and 6) Theft By Deception, M2, 3 Counts. 

An Affidavit of Probable Cause filed by Sgt. Brooks states that on May 21, 2010, the Lawrence Township Police received a report of an ongoing theft from a Lawrence Township business. Upon further investigation, it was found that Peters and five other individuals were involved in presenting fraudulent weigh slips and collecting payments from the business. Peters and the five other individuals improperly collected a total of approximately $8,677.45 in payments from the business.


A Preliminary Hearing was scheduled for July 21, 2010, at which time all charges were held for Court. On January 27, 2011, Peters failed to appear for Criminal Call and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Shaw stated that on February 8, 2011, Peters voluntarily surrendered himself to Deputies from the Clearfield County Sheriff's Office and was taken into custody.

Shaw thanked the Clearfield County Sheriff's Office for their assistance with this case.
