 Randy gillen CLEARFIELD - Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.
Shaw identified the Fugitive as Randy Gillen, Jr., age 24, of Clearfield, Pennsylvania.
Gillen was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on January 31, 2011.
On June 4, 2010, Trooper Scott Sankey of the Pennsylvania State Police, Clearfield Barracks, filed a Criminal Complaint charging Gillen with: 1) Driving Under the Influence, M; 2) Driving on Roadways Laned for Traffic, S; 3) Careless Driving, S; 4) Immediate Notice of Accident to Police Department, S; and 5) Restraint Systems, S.
An Affidavit of Probable Cause filed by Trooper Sankey states that on May 9, 2010, the Pennsylvania State Police responded to the scene of a one vehicle accident on SR 322. Upon arrival at the scene of the crash, it was found that the driver has left the location. A search of the location was conducted and the driver, identified as Randy Gillen, Jr., was located approximately .6 miles from the crash scene. Upon speaking with Gillen, Trooper Sankey detected signs of impairment. Thereafter, Sankey took Gillen into custody and transported him for blood testing.
A Preliminary Hearing was scheduled for July 21, 2010, at which time all charges were held for Court. On January 27, 2011, Gillen failed to appear for Criminal Call and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Shaw stated that an anonymous tip to the Police provided the location of Gillen at a residence on Market Street, Clearfield. On February 1, 2011, officers of the Clearfield Borough Police Department and Deputies from the Clearfield County Sheriff's Office apprehended Gillen, and he was taken into custody without incident. Shaw acknowledged that Gillen was located as the direct result of citizens willing to provide information to law enforcement.
Shaw thanked the Clearfield Borough Police Department and the Clearfield County Sheriff's Office for their hard work and assistance with this case.
