Shaw identified the Fugitive as Michele Derrick, age 45, of East Market Street, Clearfield, Pennsylvania.
Derrick was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on January 10, 2011.
On September 14, 2010, Assistant Chief Vince McGinnis of the Clearfield Borough Police Department, filed a Criminal Complaint charging Derrick with Retail Theft, F3.
An Affidavit of Probable Cause filed by McGinnis states that on September 8, 2010, the Clearfield Borough Police Department received a report that Derrick had stolen merchandise from the Clearfield Pharmacy. Video surveillance showed Derrick concealing the merchandise in her purse, then exiting the store without paying for the merchandise.
A Preliminary Hearing was scheduled for October 13, 2010, at which time all charges were held for Court. On November 10, 2010, Derrick failed to appear for Arraignment Court and a warrant was issued for her arrest.
Shaw stated that an anonymous tip to the Clearfield County Crimestoppers provided the location of Derrick. On January 13, 2011, officers of the Clearfield Borough Police Department and Deputies from the Clearfield County Sheriff's Office apprehended Derrick, and she was taken into custody without incident. Shaw acknowledged that Derrick was located as the direct result of citizens willing to provide information to law enforcement.
