DA BILL SHAW PARTICIPATES IN MOCK TRIAL WITH DUBOIS STUDENTS PDF Print E-mail

ImageCLEARFIELD- On November 19, 2010, Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., participated in a mock criminal trial with 8th grade students and teachers from the DuBois Area Middle School. The event was held at the Clearfield County Courthouse.


The mock criminal trial, State of Pennsylvania v. Julie Ann Baun,  was for the charges of First Degree Murder and Aggravated Assault, and included opening statements, the presentation of evidence, and closing arguments. During the trial, evidence was offered related to fingerprint analysis, DNA analysis, and expert testimony.


Shaw acted as the defense counsel in the simulated criminal trial, with teachers Jeffrey Bellerillo and Robert Anderson acting as the lead prosecution attorney and assistant prosecution attorney. The Honorable Judge Paul E. Cherry presided over the mock trial, with students from the DuBois Area Middle School participating as the witnesses and jury.   


Shaw commended both the students and teachers on their hard work and preparation for the event.
