REWARD OFFERED FOR INFORMATION TO SOLVE VANDALISM AT COOPER TOWNSHIP SPORTMAN ASSOCIATION

CLEARFIELD -  Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced today that the Clearfield County Crime Stoppers are seeking public support to help solve a case of vandalism and criminal mischief.

Shaw stated that in the early morning of Sunday October 21, 2010, an unknown person or persons vandalized the Cooper Township Sportsman Assoc. located on Terrace and Paul Street, in Winburne, Clearfield County.

Police reports indicate that a picnic pavilion had been set on fire, and back-stops for the shooting range had been cut down and burned.  Additionally, a concession stand/shed had been broken into and vandalized.  The cost to repair the damage was approximately $4,500.00.

Shaw stated that the Clearfield County Crime Stoppers will pay a reward of up to $1,000.00 for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for the vandalism.

Shaw stated that public support is needed to help solve this case.  Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 376-4700. Continue reading

SHAW ANNOUNCES ARREST MADE FOR SIX AREA BURGLARIES

CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced today that charges have been filed against a Clearfield County man for six area burglaries.

Shaw identified the defendant as Daniel Dillen, age 25, of Glendale Valley Boulevard, Fallentimber, Pennsylvania.

On March 26, 2012, Trooper David Patrick of the Pennsylvania State Police, Clearfield Barracks, filed six Criminal Complaints charging Dillen with: 1) Burglary, F1/F2, 4 Counts; 2) Criminal Conspiracy to Commit Burglary, F1/F2, 6 Counts; 3) Criminal Trespass, F2, 4 Counts; 4) Criminal Conspiracy to Commit Criminal Trespass, F2, 6 Counts; 4) Theft By Unlawful Taking, M1, 12 Counts; 5) Receiving Stolen Property, M1, 12 Counts; 6) Theft By Unlawful Taking, M2, 5 Counts; and 7) Receiving Stolen Property, M2, 5 Counts.

The Criminal Complaints provide that in December 2011 and January 2012 the Pennsylvania State Police began an investigation into six separate burglaries that occurred in Beccaria Township, Chest Township, Houtzdale Borough, and Coalport Borough. Upon further investigation, it was found that Dillen and 4 other actors had broken into several area businesses, a camp, and the Glendale Sportsmen's Club. Dillen and the other actors unlawfully removed over $11,000.00 worth of items from the various locations. Continue reading

FUGITIVE OF THE WEEK – March 26, 2012

CAPTURED

CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced Clearfield County's Fugitive of the Week for the week of March 26, 2012.

Shaw identified the Fugitive as Megan Watlack, age 23, of Washington Avenue, Hyde, Pennsylvania.

Shaw stated that Watlack is wanted in three separate cases for failure to appear at Criminal Call on March 22, 2012.

On September 22, 2011, Officer Michael Morris of the Lawrence Township Police Department filed a Criminal Complaint charging Watlack with: 1) Theft By Unlawful Taking or Disposition, M1, 2 Counts; and 2) Receiving Stolen Property, M1, 2 Counts.

An Affidavit of Probable Cause filed by Officer Morris states that in July and September 2011, the Lawrence Township Police began an investigation into thefts that occurred at two Clearfield County residences. Upon further investigation it was found that Watlack had stolen $1,100.00 from a residence on Meadow Road in Clearfield, and had stolen $170.00 from a residence on Ridge Avenue in Curwensville.

A Preliminary Hearing was held on November 2, 2011, at which time all charges were held to court.

DA SHAW ANNOUNCES SOLICITATION TO COMMIT MURDER CHARGES FILED

CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced today that charges have been filed against a Clarion County man.

Shaw identified the defendant as Jerry Lee Ritchey, Jr., age 36, of Southern Avenue, Strattanville, Pennsylvania.

On March 19, 2012, Corporal Mitchell York of the Pennsylvania State Police, Organized Crime Task Force, filed a Criminal Complaint charging Ritchey with: 1) Criminal Solicitation to Commit Murder, F1, 3 Counts; and 2) Criminal Solicitation to Commit Aggravated Assault, F1, 1 Count.

An Affidavit of Probable Cause filed with the complaint provides that in December 2011 the Pennsylvania State Police received information from a Confidential Informant who had been incarcerated in the Clearfield County Jail with Ritchey. The Informant relayed that Ritchey had asked him to kill Ritchey's ex-wife and her boyfriend, and that Ritchey had requested that the Informant also either burn Ritchey's current wife with acid or cut her face with a knife. Ritchey offered to pay the Informant to carry out the requests.

Upon further investigation, a recording was made in January 2012 of Ritchey specifically asking the Informant to kill his ex-wife, her boyfriend, and also his current wife. Ritchey provided the Informant with his current wife's address and a sketch of her residence, and also provided the Informant with the address of his ex-wife and her boyfriend. Ritchey further provided the Informant with details of how to best carry out the murders.

FUGITIVE OF THE WEEK – March 19, 2012

CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced Clearfield County's Fugitive of the Week for the week of March 19, 2012.

Shaw identified the Fugitive as Daniel Kloberdance, age 46, of Graham Road, Woodland, Pennsylvania.

Shaw stated that Kloberdance is wanted for failure to appear at a Preliminary Hearing on October 12, 2011.

On July 15, 2011, Trooper Kimberly Ronan of the Pennsylvania State Police, Clearfield Barracks, filed a Criminal Complaint charging Kloberdance with: 1) Recklessly Endangering Another Person, M2; 2) Disorderly Conduct, M3; and 3) Harassment, S.

An Affidavit of Probable Cause filed by Trooper Ronan states that on July 10, 2011, the Pennsylvania State Police were dispatched to respond to an incident on Graham Road in Bradford Township. Upon investigation it was found that Kloberdance had pointed a firearm at the victims while they were traveling in a vehicle on Graham Road.

CAPTURED – JOHNALEE SMEAL

CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.

Shaw identified the Fugitive as Johnalee Smeal, age 29, of Old Erie Pike, West Decatur, Pennsylvania.

Smeal was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on March 12, 2012.

On December 5, 2011, Trooper. Adam Gibson of the Pennsylvania State Police, Woodland Barracks,  filed a Criminal Complaint charging Smeal with: 1) Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, M; 3 counts.

An Affidavit of Probable Cause filed by Trooper Gibson states that at approximately 8:50 a.m. on June 10, 2011, Gibson was dispatched to a Chester Hill residence for suspected drug activity.  Upon arrival, Gibson observed drug paraphernalia in an apartment that was previously occupied by Smeal.  The paraphernalia included syringes, empty prescription pill bottles, home-made foil pipes, and burnt spoons.

CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.

Shaw identified the Fugitive as Robert Joseph Lutz, age 25, of Sipes Lane, Clearfield, Pennsylvania.

Lutz was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on January 23, 2012.

On December 28, 2011, Trooper Jared Wolff of the Pennsylvania State Police, Clearfield Barracks, filed a Criminal Complaint charging Lutz with:1) Simple Assault, M2, and 2) Harassment, (S).

An Affidavit of Probable Cause filed by Trooper Wolff states that on December 11, 2011, the Pennsylvania State Police responded to a residence located on Walton Street in Philipsburg for the report of an alleged assault.  Upon arrival at the scene the victim reported that Lutz had grabbed her by the throat, threw her to the sidewalk, and kicked her in the face.  Trooper Wolff observed deep red marks on the victim’s neck as well as marks on victim’s left cheek.
