INFORMATION WANTED TO SOLVE RITE AID ARMED ROBBERY

LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP- Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced today that the Clearfield County Crime Stoppers is seeking information relating to an armed robbery at the Rite Aid on the Clearfield Curwensville Highway.

Shaw stated that on Monday, May 30, 2011 at approximately 5:15 p.m. a man entered the Rite Aid store wearing a mask, dark-colored gloves, a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and dark sneakers. The male suspect was carrying a large, black, semi-automatic handgun. The suspect is described as a white male with blue eyes.

Upon entering the Rite Aid, the suspect went directly to the Pharmacy area in the rear of the store and ordered an employee to the floor. The suspect then demanded prescription medication from the pharmacist. After the suspect obtained the prescription medication, he ordered another employee to the back of the store. The suspect then left the store and fled in a truck heading west on SR 879 towards Curwensville. The vehicle was described as being a full-size Ford extended cab truck that was two-tone in color, with dark gray on the top and silver on the bottom.

FUGITIVE OF THE WEEK – May 31, 2011

CAPTURED

CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced Clearfield County's Fugitive of the Week for the week of May 31, 2011.

Shaw identified the Fugitive as Cruz Carpin, age 21, of South Michael Street, St. Marys, Pennsylvania.

Shaw stated that Carpin is wanted for failure to appear at Criminal Call held on May 13, 2011.

On November 8, 2010, Officer Josh Johnston of the Sandy Township Police Department, filed a Criminal Complaint charging Carpin with: 1) Theft By Deception, M, 7 Counts; and 2) Bad Checks, S, 7 Counts.

An Affidavit of Probable Cause filed by Officer Johnston states that in October 2010, the Sandy Township Police received a report of theft and bad checks from a Sandy Township business. Upon investigation it was found that on seven occasions Carpin had issued checks in order to obtain merchandise and services, however the checks were for a closed bank account.

CAPTURED – MELISSA CUSTER

CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.

Shaw identified the Fugitive as Melissa Custer, age 39, of Main Street, Brockway, Pennsylvania.

Custer was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on January 17, 2011.

On August 2, 2010,  Officer Shawn Bloom of the DuBois City Police Department, filed a Criminal Complaint charging Custer with Retail Theft, F3.

An Affidavit of Probable Cause filed by Bloom states that on July 29, 2010, the DuBois City Police were dispatched to a DuBois business for a report of a retail theft.  Video surveillance showed Custer concealing merchandise and attempting to leave the business without paying for the items.

Shaw identified the Fugitive as Melissa Custer, age 39, of Main Street, Brockway, Pennsylvania.

DA SHAW SPEAKS TO STUDENTS AT DUBOIS MIDDLE SCHOOL

CLEARFIELD - On May 23, 2011, Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., presented a video and spoke to students at the DuBois Middle School.

Shaw presented a video called "2 Smart 4 TRBL" on behalf of the Pennsylvania District Attorney's Association, which stressed the importance of students making good decisions. The video depicted real life situations that students could encounter while at school and also showed the consequences of particular decisions. Most importantly, the video showed how student's responses and actions to certain situations can bring juveniles into involvement with the criminal justice system. The video was shown to all of the students of the DuBois Middle School while they were in their classrooms.

After watching the video, students were given the opportunity to email questions to DA Shaw and School Resource Officer Paul Brosky. Shaw and Brosky then responded live to the student generated questions via the Middle School's WMSK television studio, and their responses were able to be viewed by all of the students while in their classrooms.

CAPTURED – JUSTIN DIXON

CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.

Shaw identified the Fugitive as Justin Dixon, age 33, of Lochlomond Road, Philipsburg, Pennsylvania.

Dixon was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on May 16, 2011.

On October 25, 2010, Trooper Adam Gibson of the Pennsylvania State Police, Clearfield Barracks, filed a Criminal Complaint charging Dixon with: 1) Manufacture, Deliver, or Possession With the Intent to Manufacture or Deliver a Controlled Substance, F; and 2) Possession of a Controlled Substance, M.

An Affidavit of Probable Cause filed by Trooper Gibson states that on June 18, 2010, the Pennsylvania State police began a drug investigation at a local business. Upon investigation it was found that the Defendant was an employee of the business and had given a controlled substance to another employee. It was also found that the Defendant had attempted to distribute the controlled substance to other employees. Continue reading

CAPTURED – PETER ROSSI

CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.

Shaw identified the Fugitive as Peter Rossi, age 31, of Bell Lane, Woodland, Pennsylvania.

Rossi was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on April 18, 2011.

On August 31, 2010, Trooper Brian Elensky of the Pennsylvania State Police, Clearfield Barracks, filed a Criminal Complaint charging Rossi with: 1) Theft By Unlawful Taking, M1; and 2) Receiving Stolen Property, M1.

An Affidavit of Probable Cause filed by Trooper Elensky states that in August 2010, the victim reported that he and his wife had observed a vehicle parked near his scrap metal pile on his property in Bradford Township. The victim approached the vehicle and came in contact with Rossi who was loading the vehicle with the scrap metal. Rossi then fled the scene. The victim reported that Rossi had improperly removed approximately three tons of scrap metal from his property. Continue reading

CAPTURED

CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced Clearfield County's Fugitive of the Week for the week of May 23, 2011.

Shaw identified the Fugitive as Cody Rinehart, age 20, of Surveyor Road, Clearfield, Pennsylvania.

Shaw stated that Rinehart is wanted for failure to appear at Criminal Call held on May 13, 2011.

On October 4, 2010, Trooper William Mostyn of the Pennsylvania State Police, Clearfield Barracks, filed a Criminal Complaint charging Rinehart with: 1) Theft By Unlawful Taking, F3; and 2) Receiving Stolen Property, F3.

An Affidavit of Probable Cause filed by Trooper Mostyn states that in July 2010, the Pennsylvania State Police began an investigation into the theft of an ATV. Upon investigation, it was found that Rinehart had unlawfully removed an ATV from the victim's property. The ATV was later recovered but had sustained damage.
