FUGITIVE OF THE WEEK – June 28, 2010

CAPTURED

FUGITIVE OF THE WEEK - Daniel Ryan Barnett

CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced Clearfield County's Fugitive of the Week for the week of June 28, 2010.

Shaw identified the Fugitive as Daniel Ryan Barnett, age 28, of S. Jared Street, DuBois, Pennsylvania.

Shaw stated that Barnett is wanted for failure to appear at Criminal Call on December 12, 2002.

On February 22, 2002, Officer Steve Maholtz, of the DuBois City Police Department, filed a Criminal Complaint charging Barnett with: 1) Theft from a Motor Vehicle, M1, 3 counts; 2) Receiving Stolen Property, M1, 5 counts; 3) Theft by Unlawful Taking, M1, 5 counts; and 4) Criminal Mischief, S, 5 counts.

An Affidavit of Probable Cause filed by Maholtz states that at on January 25, 2002, the DuBois City Police were dispatched to McCracken Run Road for a reported theft from a motor vehicle being serviced at DuBois Auto Repair.  Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim who stated that she arrived to pick up her vehicle after receiving repairs and noticed that the doors were unlocked and the stereo was missing.  Police located a small pair of wire snips and a red handled screw driver on the front seat of the victim's auto.  During the course of investigating the incident, officers determined that four other vehicles at the repair center were broken into and had stereos removed.  Police executed a search warrant at a residence in Chapman's Trailer Park and recovered the stolen car stereos.

CAPTURED – Jeffery Rexford Powell

  CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.

Shaw identified the fugitive as Jeffery Rexford Powell,  age 65, of Country Club Road, Clearfield, Pennsylvania.

Powell was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on April 26, 2010.

Shaw stated that Deputies from the United States Marshal Service took Powell into custody on June 21, 2010, after locating Powell at a residence in Arlee, Montana.

Shaw reported that on June 10, 2010, the Clearfield County Crimestoppers received an anonymous tip reporting that Powell was possibly living in or around Missoula, Montana.  Through investigative leads, the Clearfield County Sheriff's Department was able to determine a possible location for Powell.  The Sheriff's Department coordinated efforts with the U.S. Marshal Service in Johnstown to positively identify Powell's location.  The U.S. Marshal Service Fugitive Task Force apprehended Powell without incident.

Powell is facing charges in Clearfield County of: 1) Aggravated Assault by Vehicle while DUI, F2, 5 counts; 2) DUI, M1; 3) Recklessly Endangering Another Person, M2, 5 counts; 4) Careless Driving, S; 5) Driving on Right Side of Roadways, S; 6) Driving on Roadways Laned for Traffic, S; and 7) Reckless Driving, S.

FUGITIVE OF THE WEEK – June 21, 2010

CAPTURED

FUGITIVE OF THE WEEK - Corey James Burke

CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced Clearfield County's Fugitive of the Week for the week of June 21, 2010

Shaw identified the Fugitive as Corey James Burke, age 22, of Mt. Pleasant Road, Penfield,  Pennsylvania.

Shaw stated that Burke is wanted for failure to appear at Arraignment Court on April 14, 2010.

On February 25, 2010, Officer  Peter Largey of the Sandy Township Police Department, filed a Criminal Complaint charging Burke with: 1) Theft by Unlawful Taking, M1, and 2) Receiving Stolen Property, M1.

An Affidavit of Probable Cause filed by Largey states that on November 20, 2009, police were dispatched to the DuBois Mall in response to an individual reporting that stolen property was located at a business within the mall.  Upon arrival, officers met with the victim.  The victim reported to police that he left for work in the morning and when he returned home he noticed that a Play Station, games, and DVDs were missing from his residence.  The victim then traveled to the Game Stop, a business located in the DuBois Mall, and discovered that the stolen items had been exchanged earlier in the day.  Officers then spoke with employees of the Game Stop who advised that Burke had sold the items to the Game Stop and had provided photo identification.  The total value of the merchandise stolen was approximately $919.33.

FUGITIVE OF THE WEEK – June 7, 2010

CAPTURED

FUGITIVE OF THE WEEK - John Warren Baker

CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced Clearfield County's Fugitive of the Week for the week of June 7, 2010.

Shaw identified the Fugitive as John W. Baker, age 36, of Krebbs Avenue, Clearfield, Pennsylvania.

Shaw stated that Baker is wanted for failure to appear at Criminal Call on December 15, 2005.

On March 16, 2005, Sergeant Gregory Neeper, of the Clearfield Borough Police Department, filed a Criminal Complaint charging Baker with: 1) Theft of Services, M1.

An Affidavit of Probable Cause filed by Neeper states that on February 24, 2005, the Clearfield Borough Police Department received a complaint from a service technician working for Atlantic Broadband / Charter Communications.  The technician reported a suspicion that tenants in two separate apartments were involved in a theft of cable and internet services.  The technician observed a television cable and internet cable running in the hallway of the apartment building from under the doors of the two separate apartments. When police questioned the tenant of one of the apartments, the tenant stated that she canceled her internet and television cable service and asked Baker if she could run a connection from his television and computer service to her television and computer. Baker agreed and the line was run between the two apartments.  The unlawful connection lasted for approximately two months.
